  • Intern, Architect

    Description

    The Intern position may be either part-time or full time depending on the firm’s current workload and project demands.  Interns work directly with a Project Manager on various tasks that include design, presentation drawings, office administration, and construction documentation..  Interns will work on a variety of projects during their time with the firm.  The position is directed towards current students and is considered a temporary position while the associate is a student or the agreed upon duration of the intern experience upon start of employment.

    The company endeavors to promote teamwork and collaboration.  Every associate is expected to step into multiple roles at any given time to assist someone else or perform a task, which may be technically outside the scope of their job responsibilities, when necessary in order to complete the task at hand and within the established schedule.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Enhances the image and reputation of Berardi + Partners, Inc. by exercising sound and ethical business practices in all relations with clients, employees, suppliers and other parties and working towards realization of the company Mission Statement.
    • Responsible for presentation drawings and working directly with the design team and the Project Manager/Designer
    • Assist with design work, programming and preparation of preliminary drawings and other presentation documents when so assigned.
    • Assist the Construction Administration Department by producing drawings or exhibits necessary during the Construction Phase for Architect’s Supplemental Instructions, Change Orders, etc.
    • Maintain communication with all project team members to facilitate the work, meet the scheduled deadlines and resolve problems or issues in a timely manner.
    • Assist the Project Manager to document communications, meeting notes, critical design decisions etc. as necessary both as a matter of record and to facilitate communication between team members, clients and consultants.

    Requirements

    • Basic understanding of REVIT or associated BIM drafting software is required
    • Basic understanding of construction drawings
    • Advanced understanding of Adobe Creative Suite software is required
  • Electrical Engineer I

    Description

    With the assistance of the Director of Engineering and the Project Manager, the Electrical Engineer I collaborates with the design team to address the Client’s scope of work and provide and deliver an effective solution that satisfies the needs of the Client and Project Manager.  The position requires a basic understanding of construction documentation and specifications for new and remodel construction.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Enhances the image and reputation of Berardi + Partners, Inc. by exercising sound and ethical business practices in all relations with clients, employees, suppliers and other parties and working towards realization of the company Mission Statement.
    • Responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects in their entirety working with other managers and production staff in the line of the organization within prescribed time and budgeted man-hour limits. 
    • Responsible for all design work associated with the project, including code compliance, general industry standards, client standards and as directed by the Engineer.
    • Perform code research, reviews of schematic design drawings and work with engineering staff to ensure the proposed design is compliant and functional.
    • Responsible for producing the specifications for assigned projects.
    • Assist construction administration department during construction to resolve issues.
    • Review applicable Architect’s Supplemental Instructions, Change Orders, and Construction Change Directives. 
    • Review and approve General Contractor’s shop drawings.
    • Maintain communication with all project team members to facilitate the work, meet the scheduled deadlines and resolve problems or issues in a timely manner.

    Requirements

    • Intermediate understanding of AutoCAD and REVIT drafting software
    • Basic understanding of lighting design and application
    • Understanding of applicable building codes and regulations
    • Experience in construction drawings and specifications
    • Prior work experience in multifamily and/or skilled nursing care is preferred although not required
  • Project Leader, Architecture

    Description

    With the assistance of the Project Manager, the Project Leader collaborates with the design team to address the Client’s scope of work and provide and deliver an effective solution that satisfies the needs of the Client and Project Manager.  The Project Leader is responsible for working and leading a team of Project Coordinators in development of the design and construction documentation.  The Project Leader is expected to interact directly with the Client and attend meetings with the Project Manager.  Strong leadership and a balanced foundation of knowledge is expected for this position.  The position does requires an advanced understanding of construction documentation and specifications for new and remodel construction.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for completing stipulated projects in their entirety generally up to the construction phase and at times including the Construction Phase.  This includes producing drawings and documents in each phase as required or assigned, and assisting the Project Manager with administrative tasks necessary to complete the project.
    • Responsible for producing acceptable and complete full sets of working drawings for each project assigned to him / her in accordance with the drawing and CAD / BIM standards established in office manual and with the assistance of other staff as required.
    • Responsible for coordination between drawings both within disciplines and between disciplines to ensure the content is consistent, in agreement and without discrepancies or conflicts.
    • Responsible for compiling catalog information and notes or other information as an aid to the specifications writer.  Depending on workloads, available manpower and experience level, the Project Leader may produce the specifications for the project at hand.
