Sixty Spring Street was developed as one of the first apartment/condominium projects in the recent development initiatives sponsored by the City of Columbus, in their effort to bring significant residential projects to the core of the city. 70 dwelling units were located in the 3-story historic building originally designed as the principal regional US Post Office. Vacant land adjacent to the east was then redeveloped to incorporate a 7-story structure dedicated solely for condominium uses. An interior courtyard was created between the ‘old’ and the ‘new’ buildings complete with landscape gardens and a reflecting pond. Parking for the buildings was located underground, taking advantage of the double lower levels, and access to parking is conveniently located at the north side via an exit passageway. The design of the new building reflects the traditional style of the ‘old’ while enhanced through the use of contemporary materials.
